Module 1: Finding your Political Why
Participants will be taken through the who, what, when, where, and why of campaign life in order to identify their strengths, values, interests, transferable skills, limits, centers of power and influence, and other relevant information to keep them focused on the most important factor of all: Why are they here.
Module 2: Communications
2-Part Module: Planning Your Message & Getting Communications Sh*t Done - Learn how to develop a campaign message, brand, and platform, and how to deal with the press. Bonus materials include templates, tips and tricks for writing speeches, and a political focused crash course in AP Style.
Module 3: Fundraising
2-Part Module: Planning to Raise & Spend Money & Getting Fundraising Sh*t Done - Participants will walk away with a strong foundation for an organized fundraising program. From call time and prospecting to creating event flyers and emails, participants will get a how-to on a range of strategies and tactics for fundraising.
Module 4: Field
2-Part Module: Planning to Talk to Voters & Getting Field Sh*t Done - From calculating win numbers and designing walk pieces to volunteer recruitment calls and goal tracking, this module teaches participants everything they need to know to create and execute a viable field plan.
Module 7: Politics of Campaigning
Endorsements and Sh*t. Understand the basics of the Democratic Party and Labor movement as well as various ways endorsements can be useful on campaigns, tips and tricks for dealing with elected officials, staffers, and lobbyists, and warnings of political traps that distract from community engagement (key to winning!)
Module 5: Advertising
2-Part Module: Planning Your Ad Strategy & Getting Ad Sh*t Done - Get a breakdown of advertising fundamentals and tactics, including best practices in campaign advertising and examples, and learn how to frame positive, negative, and comparative messaging for different audiences.
Module 8: Campaign Operations
How All This Sh*t Goes Together. All aspects of a campaign can be done well individually, but if they aren’t working together, then the energy is being wasted. This module focuses on planning and managing the overlapping aspects of campaigns, as well as what data to track, what positions to hire and when, and more.
Module 6: Digital Campaigning
Getting Digital Sh*t Done. This module offers a deeper dive on best practices for digital fundraising, digital organizing, and digital field outreach. It is critical to know how digital tools can be aligned to further every aspect of a campaign.
Module 9: Candidate Management
Egos, boundaries & sh*t. Understand the candidate’s role in the campaign compared to your own, and learn to develop boundaries that maintain a healthy work environment where you can all succeed together.
